Hi! We're a two-person company that makes software. We don't want to spy on you; we're too busy making things. Here's what we actually do with your data.

Who We Are

Superpencil OÜ is a company established under the laws of the Republic of Estonia, registry code 14932474, address Sepapaja 6, Tallinn, Harju county 15551, Estonia, in the European Union.

What We Collect

We collect your Name, Email, and Country. That's it.

Horse Browser has no telemetry. We don't track what you browse or how you use the app.

We verify your licence key to prevent abuse, and receive crash reports through Sentry if something breaks.

Payment info goes straight to Stripe—we never see your card details.

Why We Need It

We collect this info because: our accountant needs it for VAT compliance, we need to email you your licence keys, onboarding emails, and newsletter (you can unsubscribe anytime).

Services We Use

We use a few services to run our business. Here's what they do:

Stripe – processes payments. Supabase – stores your data in an encrypted database. Vercel – hosts our website. Postmark – sends transactional emails (receipts, licence keys, onboarding). Mailchimp – sends our newsletter. Intercom – powers our support chat. Sentry – crash reporting. Plausible – privacy-friendly analytics. Rewardful – runs our affiliate program.

These services help us do our job. They don't contact you or sell you things.

Advertising

We're a small team without a marketing department, so we run ads to find customers. We share a hashed version of your email with Meta to find people like you who might like our software.

Cookies

We use cookies to keep you signed in and to understand how people use our website.

You can disable cookies in your browser settings, though some features may not work properly.

Your Rights

You can ask us to show you, correct, or delete your data. To contact us, talk to our trusty chat bot Marin on the help page, and we'll sort it out within a month.

Changes

If we update this policy, we'll post the changes here.

Sencha tea leaves and brewed tea

Sencha (煎茶) is a type of Japanese ryokucha (緑茶, green tea) which is prepared by infusing the processed whole tea leaves in hot water. This is as opposed to matcha (抹茶), powdered Japanese green tea, where the green tea powder is mixed with hot water and therefore the leaf itself is included in the beverage. Sencha is the most popular tea in Japan.
Types of sencha

The types of sencha are distinguished by when they are harvested. Shincha (新茶, "new tea") represents the first month's harvest of sencha. Basically, it's the same as ichibancha (一番茶, "first tea"), which is the first harvest of the year.

Kabusecha (かぶせ茶) is sencha grown in the shade for about a week before harvest. Asamushi (浅蒸し) is lightly steamed sencha, while fukamushi (深蒸し) is deeply steamed sencha.

Production

Sencha tea is made from the leaves of the Camellia sinensis plant. The leaves are steamed, rolled, and dried immediately after harvest to prevent oxidation. This process preserves the fresh, grassy flavor that sencha is known for.

The steaming process used in making sencha is what differentiates it from Chinese green teas, which are typically pan-fired. The duration of the steaming process affects the final taste and color of the tea.

Brewing

Sencha is typically brewed at lower temperatures than black tea or oolong tea. The ideal water temperature is usually between 60–80°C (140–176°F), with brewing time ranging from 1 to 2 minutes.

The tea can be brewed multiple times, with each infusion revealing different flavor notes. The first brew tends to be more astringent and fresh, while subsequent brews become milder and sweeter.
